Internet Download Manager is Windows-only. If you've moved to a Mac and miss it, these are the apps that come closest, compared honestly.

No. Internet Download Manager (IDM) is made for Windows only, and there's no official Mac version. Any "IDM for Mac" download you find on another site isn't the real IDM, and may not be safe to install.
The good news is that several Mac apps do what IDM is loved for: splitting a file into several connections so it downloads faster, resuming broken downloads, catching downloads from your browser, and saving videos from web pages.
A good Mac replacement should do all four.
Full disclosure: this is our app, and it was built specifically to be the IDM of the Mac. It splits each file across up to 32 connections, resumes interrupted downloads, and sorts finished files into Videos, Audio, Documents, Programs, Archives and Images. The browser extension for Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc puts a download button on videos and sends downloads straight to the app, and it can save video or just the audio from more than a thousand video sites. It also has a speed limiter and a one-click tidy-up for a messy Downloads folder. It's a native Mac app, costs $18 once with free updates for life, and has a 30-day free trial.
A long-standing Mac download manager that handles both direct downloads and torrents, with speed limits, queues and scheduling. A good choice if you need torrents.
A free, cross-platform download manager with a Mac version. It supports multi-connection downloads and torrents. It isn't a native Mac app, so it looks and feels more like its Windows version.
A free download accelerator for Mac and Windows with browser extensions for catching links. Simple and lightweight.
A free, open-source download manager that runs on Java. Very powerful for file-hosting sites, but the interface is busy and it doesn't feel like a Mac app.

Download Manager by Threefold is built to work like IDM on the Mac: multi-connection downloads, resume, a browser button on videos and automatic sorting. Folx and Free Download Manager are good options if you need torrents.
It's possible with virtualisation software, but it's slow and awkward. A native Mac download manager is a much better experience.
